History of the Irish Jaguar and Daimler Club

The Irish Jaguar and Daimler Club Ltd. was founded in Cork during 1980 by a group of enthusiasts, who realised that the great interest which many people have for these Cars, could best be served through an organized group.

2005 marked the 25th Anniversary of the founding of the Irish Jaguar & Daimler Club, which was celebrated with a dinner and guest speaker, one Norman Dewis ex Chief Vehicle Proving Test Engineer for Jaguar. Norman achieved a speed of 174.789 MPH on October 21, 1953 on the Jabbeke/Ostend Route, Belgium, in an aircraft canopied XK-120. Our Club also celebrated with a run to our birthplace, Cork for our annual National Weekend with our friends in the JEC & JDC NI. We were based in the Celtic Ross Hotel, Roscarberry and all had a very good weekend - see photo's.

Since 1980 the Club has grown, moving to Dublin in 1981 and becoming a Limited Company in 1982. Throughout the 1980s and 90s membership increased steadily, and today the Irish Jaguar and Daimler Club Ltd. is regarded as one of Ireland’s premier car clubs and remains the only Irish club dedicated to the Jaguar and Daimler marques.

In addition to a wide range of motoring activities, membership of the Irish Jaguar and Daimler Club Ltd. offers many benefits - technical advice for all models, monthly meetings of the Committee, full day & afternoon runs with lunch / picnics to places of interest, including joining other Car Clubs' Car Shows (see the Events page for details), a free quarterly newsletter "The Growler", plus a range of unique Club Merchandise.

The Club organizes and runs the Irish Classic and Vintage Motor Show, which has grown to be the biggest one day Classic and Vintage Car Show in the country, All proceeds are donated to our chosen charity for that year - see Photo's page for pictures of the previous years shows
