It is with great sadness that the Committee of the Irish Jaguar & Daimler Club has to announce the cancellation of the 29th Irish Classic & Vintage Motor Show due to be held in Terenure College, Dublin, this July.

Unfortunately the part of the College grounds used for public car parking is no longer available. This piece of land was crucial to the running of the show given the huge numbers attending in recent years. The Club has tried to secure alternative parking locally but with no success. The Club has also looked to secure an alternate venue in and around the city that has capacity for up to 1,500 cars and up to 12,000 members of the public. Sadly those available over the Summer are not suitable for cost or traffic management reasons.

Over the last 30 years the show has become a highlight of the Irish motoring year and has grown to become not only Irelands largest car show with representatives from most of the premium car marques and classic car clubs but also a family fun day with live music, children’s entertainment and a variety of food courts.

IJDC Chairman John McEneff said “We are not giving up on the Irish Classic & Vintage Motor Show and a team is now in place looking at more potential venues for next year”

The Committee of the IJDC would like to thank all those that have sent messages of support and to those that have tried to help us secure an alternate site for our show. We look forward to seeing you all again in 2024.

The Club was delighted to revive our informal Breakfast Runs in the Spring of 2022 to meet up and visit places of interest. As well as Jaguars from F-type and XF back to an SS100 replica the runs attracted a wide variety of other classic cars all keen to get out and enjoy the fine weather. Keep an eye on our regularly updated Events page for details of more outings and all are welcome to attend.

It is with great regret that the committee of the Irish Jaguar & Daimler Club announce the cancellation of this year’s Irish Classic & Vintage Motor Show, aka the Terenure Car Show, due to be held on Sunday 3rd July.

Unfortunately, this is the third year we have had to cancel what has become Ireland’s biggest and best car show. While Ireland is now reaching the final stages of the Covid-19 outbreak we do not believe that it will be possible to organize a show to the standard we would wish in the time available to us. As the show takes place in the grounds of a working secondary school it is not possible to reschedule the event for later in the year.  Instead we will focus on next year’s show on the first weekend in July 2023 building on the huge success of our 28th annual show in 2019.

IJDC Chairman John McEneff said “Terenure has grown to become the largest and most prestigious car show in the country and, while it is run to professional standards, at its core is a voluntary team of organizers from our Club. Canceling the show is a difficult decision to make, and we realize that many will be disappointed, but we don’t believe that we can hold an event in July of the scale and quality we would want. The IJDC continues to thrive and, in the coming months, we will start work to hold an even better show in 2023.”

The Irish Classic & Vintage Motor Show, held by the Irish Jaguar & Daimler Club  in the grounds of Terenure College, Dublin is Ireland’s largest car show attracting up 1,500 vehicles and 12,000 members of the public. Over the past 30 years the show has become a highlight of the Irish motoring year and a fixture in the Dublin Summer social scene as well as supporting a range of charities and good causes.

With Covid restrictions easing we were able to organise a weekend in Co Clare for IJDC members and friends in September 2021. Though quieter than our usual National Jaguar Weekend, the hospitality in the Hotel Woodstock in Ennis was superb and we enjoyed great Indian Summer weather as we toured the Burren.

The IJDC were delighted to take part in the inaugural National Classic Spin organised by our friends in Irish Vintage Scene magazine and supporting the Aware mental health charity. We started off with a socially distanced breakfast in Toughers of Naas and then took a scenic drive around the Blessington Lakes with stops in Lacken, for photos, and Hollywod for ice cream. Due to the early August date quite a few were away but there was still quite a range of Jaguars and other marques on the run – from 1968 to 2017 and from a Datsun to a Volkswagen!
